March Fitness Challenge - Strength and Mobility for Runners!


The March Fitness Challenge is here! In this at-home, completely online challenge, we are going to dive into strength and mobility as it applies to runners!

In order to get better at running, or anything in life, you have to put in a little extra work behind the scenes. Core and glute strength are essential for good running form, and are incredibly important if you want to get faster. In addition, mobility is a key component for overall health and longevity. It helps your body move the way it is supposed to, and takes care of little aches and pains that inevitably arise if you are an active individual. Thus, this month we will be focusing on two areas: strength and mobility as it pertains to runners.

The strength portion will include:

  • Glute and hamstring strength for stronger, faster running

  • Upper body strength to improve full body strength

  • Core strength to improve balance and running form

The mobility focus will address the following areas:

  • Hips and hip flexors

  • Glutes and hamstrings

  • Ankles, feet, calves, and knees

  • Shoulders and upper back

The structure for this month will be split up between specified strength days, and specified mobility and core days:

  • Tuesday and Thursday - Strength. These days will focus on building full body strength, specifically targeting shoulders, glutes, and hamstrings with accessory movements added for things like hip flexor strength and low back strength.

  • Monday, Wednesday, and Friday - Mobility and Core. The purpose of these days is to increase your range of motion, comfort, and stability during runs. We will be focusing on mobility work for the entire body, with an emphasis on the hips, knees, ankles, and back. Core work will be incorporated to improve stability and form while running.

EQUIPMENT NEEDED: Resistance band(s). If you do not currently own resistance bands, you can get them for cheap here - Resistance Bands

Expect to spend about an hour each day working through your exercises. I will only be taking 15 people through this month’s challenge, so sign up before all of the spots are filled! Registration closes March 3rd. We start working toward your goals the very next day!

This is an online challenge and all exercises may be completed at home. Workouts will be communicated via TrueCoach, an online portal and app that allows me to program workouts and include demo videos for each movement so that you know exactly what you are supposed to do each day. As always, the participant who completes the most workouts will win 2 FREE weeks of online personal training!
